Sombor's Architecture

The City Hall, located in the heart of the city, is the most recognizable architectural landmark of Sombor, proudly holding this title for two centuries. It has been declared a cultural monument of great importance. Inside, you'll find the City Tavern, where you can enjoy a drink or a traditional Bačka lunch with a view of the beautiful Sombor architecture and King Peter I Street.

Another symbol of the city is the County Hall, which still houses the largest painting in Serbia, “The Battle of Senta.” Painted by Ferenc Ajzenhut, it covers an impressive area of 28m². Right next to the County Hall is a garden with a variety of colorful flowers and a park filled with Bođoš trees, making this area one of the most photogenic spots in Sombor. With over 7,500 Bođoš trees, Sombor rightfully claims the title of the greenest city in Serbia.

Krušper Palace, connected to Paša’s Tower, now houses the Historical Archive and is a monument of significant cultural importance. History enthusiasts will appreciate the documents and artifacts dating back over 300 years.

The Church of St. George, the Carmelite Church, and the Kronić Palace are among the most beautiful buildings in Sombor. The Carmelite Church houses the largest organ in Vojvodina, and at one time, it was the third-largest in Yugoslavia.

It has hosted some of the most prominent directors and actors, and notable Serbian and regional music stars have filmed their music videos on its stage (Zdravko Čolić, Lepa Brena, Nedeljko Bajić Baja).
