Rich Cultural Heritage
We can confidently say that Bački Petrovac is a miniature version of Vojvodina. Here, you have the chance to experience the coexistence of Serbs, Slovaks, Hungarians, and Rusyns and get acquainted with their vibrant customs and cultures.
The Museum of Vojvodinian Slovaks is the most significant cultural institution of the Slovak national minority in Vojvodina, making it a place worth visiting. Here, you’ll learn about the interesting history of the Slovaks' arrival in the area, gain insight into their culture and customs, and see the famous Slovak folk costume, renowned for its distinctive appearance.
The Heritage House, the oldest house in Bački Petrovac, dates back to the second half of the 18th century and faithfully preserves the spirit of the past, making you feel as though you’ve briefly stepped back in time. You can explore the life of an average Slovak peasant through two collections in the house: cultural-historical and ethnographic.
The "Zuzka Medveđova" Gallery boasts a rich collection of Slovak art and is named after the first academic painter from the Vojvodinian Slovaks. The gallery hosts the most famous Slovak event in Vojvodina – the Biennale of Slovak Visual Artists in Serbia, which takes place from late November to early December. Nearby, you’ll find the Slovak Vojvodina Theatre and a library with over 40,000 books, the oldest of which dates back to the late 17th century.
While you’re in Bački Petrovac, don’t miss a visit to the Museum of Agriculture, the only museum of its kind not just in Serbia but in the former Yugoslavia. Located 5 kilometers from Bački Petrovac in Kulpin, it is housed in the Dunđerski Castle, adding to its charm.

Events
If you’re a foodie, head to Bački Petrovac in mid-February for the kulen festival "Klobasafest". This international event will give you the chance to taste the best sausages from the country and region.
Just 10 kilometers from Bački Petrovac is the charming village of Gložan, known for hosting the largest Slovak festival in Vojvodina – Tancuj, Tancuj (Dance, Dance). The festival aims to preserve Slovak music, dance, songs, and customs through the participation of Slovak folk ensembles from Serbia, as well as from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Hungary, and Romania. It is held every June.
Slovak National Celebrations, another major event in Bački Petrovac, takes place from August 3 to 11 this year. Don’t miss the opportunity to learn more about Slovak culture and traditions while enjoying concerts by popular singers from Serbia and the region.
The Petrovački Theatre Days, a traditional international theater festival, is held every September. Dedicate a weekend to attend and see the best performances from various cities in Serbia and Slovakia.
Gastronomy
It is well-known that the specialty of Bački Petrovac is the spicy Slovak kulen, whose geographic origin is protected, meaning it can only be produced here. You can try the famous Vojvodinian lunch and numerous specialties at the Petrovačka Čarda on the Dunav-Tisa-Dunav Canal, close to Petroland Water Park.
